The Super Cup observes the ROAR rules and a complete round of qualifying completes an event. These are the general rules that everyone goes by in R/C for many, many years. This means that a national level event could be decided by 1 round of qualifying in the event of a weather or condition issue and this is also the rule we are trying to adhere to on the Super Cup as well. We are all racers and nobody wants to end the day early, we all feel that we had something left in the tank or battery. However, this is what happens and you must adjust and move on.
The drivers must also do their due diligence to observe and respect the wishes of the race director, track and series. The first round of qualifying at these races always takes the most amount of time. Transponder check…..etc, can take anywhere from 2-5 minutes alone per race in the first round. These races are always a fine balance between direct relationships with the drivers, special assistance and damage control. A dominant personality does not always work 100% of the time with the drivers either. We want to help and move quickly at the same time.
The Super Cup exists because of passion and is made up of people of dedication. As the trends change the series will always be evolving and changes, corrections and additions will have to be made along the way. I would suggest being open minded, understanding the complete situation, hold your criticism for the right place and time. When in doubt try to help the situation and enjoy the racing that is available to you.
Future protocol:
- Online signup is preferred. Please visit RCSignup and pre-register using, name, class, frequency and personal transponder number. Please make sure your personal transponder number is current and what you intend on using. The online sign-up no longer takes payment during sign-up so everyone should be able to confirm ahead of time without a financial commitment. This is intended to entice drivers to register so we can set-up heats ahead of time. Pre-entries will close on Thursday morning prior to the event. A pre-heat list will be posted online via www.supercupevents.com on the news page. Entries will be limited to 150, be sure to register early. The first entry for pre-registered drivers will remain at $20.
- Check-in, late registration and payment will be trackside on either Friday evening or Saturday morning. You may also call 352-241-4976 and pre-register over the phone. The option will be given to all racers during check-in to pre-register for the next event (recommended).
- Late entries or entries taken at the track will be $25 for the first class.
- Heat sheets will be printed. 1 change if necessary will be made.
- A drivers meeting will be held Saturday morning at 9:30am providing racers with the guidelines for the series and day. Questions will be taken.
- Qualifiers will start promptly at 9:45am. Please note this is based on an ideal scenario of registration and cooperation.
- No grace periods will be given unless you are already on the racing surface and headed onto the drivers stand.
- For the first round of qualifying, vehicles must be placed behind the check-in line and must roll across when directed to do so. After proper check-in a warm-up lap may be completed but stopped before the line.
- For round 2 drivers are permitted to perform multiple warm-up laps until the 2-minute clock expires. The race director will call 30 seconds to start and all vehicles must be behind the line.
- Turn marshals must immediately report to the track to perform their duties. Anyone needing special assistance must provide a volunteer. A 1 lap penalty will be given to drivers not reporting.
- Mains will be posted and time-line projected for daylight or curfew purposes.
- Mains will be sorted with 2 bump-ups from the previous main moving forward.
- Mains completed.
After the race, results and updated points will be posted on www.supercupevents.com
All decisions, issues and structure will be decided by the race officials and appropriate track officials. Decisions are final.
Weather: (as already posted on www.supercupevents.com )
Super Cup racing will be held on Saturday. An effort will always be made to run the event on that single day. If one complete round is completed it is an official race and points will be tabulated based on position. If it is impossible to race at all on a Saturday, Sunday will be used as the make-up day. If a race is unsuccessful on Sunday than a make-up race will be run at a date to be determined. Drivers will be given the option of a refund or to hold their entry for the future event.
Banquet / Awards:
A Banquet will always be held at the first race of the new season. In addition to awards, drivers will be treated to a light food selection along with various soft drinks at the banquet. Drivers will be interacting for the evening with fellow Super Cup racers and will receive awards for performance in each the spring and fall session. The amount of entries in each class will determine how many awards are given for each class. In addition, prizes will be given away at random from JConcepts as well as other contributing sponsors.
Visit RCSignup's site for more information or to register for an event.
